Iced Vanilla Coffee
- 8 ounces strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 1-3 tablespoons vanilla coffee syrup
- 1-3 tablespoons half and half or milk of choice
Vanilla Coffee Syrup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 vanilla bean, seeds scraped or 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- Make the syrup: Place the water, sugar, and either the vanilla bean pod with its seeds or vanilla extract into a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and whisk continuously until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool slightly, then transfer the syrup to a glass storage container.
- Prepare iced coffee: Fill a large drinking glass completely with ice cubes. Pour the cooled brewed coffee over the ice. Add 1 to 3 tablespoons of the prepared vanilla syrup and 1 to 3 tablespoons of half and half or your milk of choice. Stir, taste, and adjust syrup and creamer amounts as desired for sweetness and creaminess. Serve immediately, optionally topped with whipped cream for extra indulgence.
- Using a Keurig machine: Place a large 12-ounce coffee mug filled with ice under the Keurig brewer. Select an 8-ounce strong brew and start the machine. Once brewed, carefully pour the hot coffee into a tall glass filled with ice. Then add vanilla syrup and milk following the recipe instructions.
Notes
- Store leftover vanilla coffee syrup in a clean glass container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
- For a simple syrup without vanilla flavor, omit the vanilla bean or extract.
- You can freeze cooled coffee in ice cube trays to use later in iced coffee drinks without diluting flavor.
