Ingredients

Units Scale

Cheese and Jalapeño Filling

  • 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 3 ounces cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 to 2 jalapeño peppers, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Turkey Burger Mixture

  • 2 lb ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 2 tablespoon finely minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin

Cooking and Serving

  • 1 to 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 6 slices cooked bacon
  • Optional: lettuce wraps for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, grated cheddar, minced jalapeños, and garlic. Mash everything together with a fork or spatula until well mixed. Set aside.
  2. Mix Turkey Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the ground turkey, almond flour, minced onion, salt, black pepper, and cumin until well combined.
  3. Form Patties with Burger Press: Place a circle of parchment paper at the bottom of the burger press. Add the turkey mixture to fill the press halfway, then top with another circle of parchment paper. Press down to create a well in the center.
  4. Add Filling and Seal: Remove the top press and parchment, add some cream cheese mixture into the well, cover with more turkey mixture, and use the flat part of the press to seal the edges completely.
  5. Repeat: Continue until all turkey and filling are used, forming 6 to 7 stuffed burgers. Alternatively, hand-stuff by forming patties with a well in the center, adding filling, and sealing edges.
  6. Preheat Grill and Oil Burgers: Preheat a grill to medium-high heat. Brush both sides of each burger with olive oil to prevent sticking.
  7. Grill Burgers: Grill the patties for 7 to 8 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature reaches 165ºF (74ºC), ensuring they are cooked through.
  8. Serve: Top grilled burgers with crispy bacon. Serve on lettuce wraps for a low-carb alternative or with your choice of buns.

Notes

  • You can adjust the number of jalapeños depending on your heat preference.
  • Ensure the turkey patties reach an internal temperature of 165ºF for safe consumption.
  • Using almond flour keeps this recipe gluten free and adds a subtle nutty flavor.
  • For extra crispiness, cook bacon separately and add on top after grilling burgers.
  • Lettuce wraps are an excellent low-carb serving option, but feel free to use buns if preferred.
