Ingredients

Units Scale

Juice Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups Fresh Green Apple Juice (from 3 - 5 whole apples, depending on your juicer)
  • 2 tablespoons Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
  • 1 dash Spirulina Powder

Other Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups Sparkling Spring Water (additive-free)
  • 1 Lime or Apple for Garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Green Apple Juice: Chop apples into quarters or smaller pieces as needed based on your juicer’s instructions. Use 3 – 5 apples for a bladed juicer or 2 – 3 apples for a slow juicer to extract 1.5 cups of fresh green apple juice. Alternatively, use a blender to puree 1-inch chunks of apple, adding up to ½ cup of water if needed, then strain the mixture through a nut milk bag or fine-mesh sieve to extract the juice.
  2. Add Lime Juice: Immediately stir in 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lime juice to the apple juice to prevent oxidation and browning.
  3. Mix in Spirulina Powder: Add one dash of spirulina powder to the juice mixture. Use a whisk to blend thoroughly, or blend in a smoothie blender for about 30 seconds if clumps appear. Perform this step before adding sparkling water.
  4. Add Sparkling Water: Pour 2.5 cups of additive-free sparkling spring water into the juice mixture. Adjust the amount to modify the flavor intensity according to your preference.
  5. Serve and Garnish: Pour the soda into glasses, preferably martini or cocktail glasses for a fancy touch. Garnish with lime or apple slices, applying a little lime or lemon juice on apple slices to prevent browning.

Notes

  • Use freshly squeezed lime juice immediately after juicing to prevent the apple juice from browning.
  • If you don’t have a juicer, a blender and strainer are a great alternative to extract fresh apple juice.
  • Adjust the amount of sparkling water to control the strength of the sour green apple flavor.
  • Spirulina adds nutrition and color but can sometimes clump, so whisk well or blend briefly.
  • Garnish apples with lime or lemon juice to keep them fresh and prevent oxidation.
